Teen SpiriT IV - INEC Killarney on Tuesday 6th March 2012
3,500 give standing ovations for final time to Teen SpiriT - two shows, a schools show and evening show saw two full houses and the biggest crowds Teen SpiriT has ever played in front of.
It was an emotional day for all involved as we were all saying goodbye to a project that has been such an amazing journey and phenomenon across Kerry and beyond. The schools show was a huge success where 1700 students had a ball and remained respectful during the more reflective parts of the show which for us is a mark of the success of the show and the support of the students and teachers involved. The evening show was a celebration from start to finish with some hilarious scenes and a choir who were absolutely electric. We had some really touching moments which brought a tear or two as well as songs and reflections that looked at the Christian faith in a very relevant and contemporary way, and that's the mix that we aim for in a Teen SpiriT show.
The feedback from the teenagers is truly heartfelt and the relationship between the adult team and teens was one of respect, fun, co-operation and a shared vision of doing something really special and historic.
A big thank you to all those who supported the show over the years. Those who came to the show are evidence that there are people who get how important it is as a community to support our youth in a setting that isn't competitive but is a shared activity, and that we are all in a better place when we support our community's future in such a healthy way.
